caramelsilver: (Pretty: Paul Bettany)
I'm having all these thoughts that are fandom related, and I always forget to put them into a post, so here's what I've been thinking about lately:

First of all: If you are going to read only one auto-biography this year, then it HAS to be Tina Fey's Bossypants! It's the funniest book I have EVER read! It trumps everything. It's funnier than Good Omens. I was reading it on my way home from London, and I was sitting at Gatwick Airport, with people sitting around me. And I know how annoying it is when people laugh at something and you don't know what it is, but I just couldn't help myself. I was literally laughing out loud. Loudly! I had to stop reading, to cover my face, and laugh. I laughed so much that the lady sitting beside me asked: "So you recommend it then?" And I said: "Yes, so very much. It's really, really funny." And she said: "Yeah, I can see that."

You may think you are the most awesome woman in the world, and I'm not saying that you aren't really bloody awesome, because of course you are!, but Tina Fey is head bitch of awesome forever! Bow down to your queen. Her book is amazing. It's empowering, and just plain inspiring. It makes you want to be a better woman just so you can impress her. READ IT! You will not regret it.

2. Doctor Who mid-season six spoilers! )

3. If you are thinking about signing up for the Narnia Fic Exchange you have to do it now. Because it closes tonight. But even if you don't sign-up, don't go away, because we have planned a Narnia Summer of Awesome, where lots of things will happen and everyone will have fun. Promise!

4. Love Never Dies is apparently closing this August, so now I'm even more pleased that I managed to catch it while in London! Still super happy that I got to see David and Ramin.

5. Speaking of David Thaxton. How much do I want him to play Enjorlas in the Les Miserables movie that are in pre-production now? SO FREAKING MUCH! PLEASE UNIVERSE, MAKE IT SO! MAKE IT SO!

On Thursday I'm going to London with my brother. I am absolutely besides myself with excitement! We're seeing Les Miserables, which, while not the sole reason, is the main reason why we're going and I CANNOT WAIT!! But, what else should I do? Do you have any suggestions to must dos in London?

And now I'm going to rec a lot of things:

On the internet:

- [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange has a Tumblr now! Join it! so if you, like me, are spending more time on Tumblr than on LJ you will still be able to keep up with the exchange! (Is it sad that I'm jealous of how many followers it already has? Yes, a bit sad, I'd say.)

- This blog: smart, pretty and awkward is a brilliant advice blog that's just a delight to read. But it on your flist. You won't regret it!

- On Tumblr, I'd recommend adding brotips to your dash. I know many are tired of all these "rules" blogs, but this one is great, smart and not condescending. And yeah, it says bros, but women can be bros too, and the advice is brilliant and poignant most of the time!

To read:

-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. And if you have read those books, then you should read this brilliant fic: To the Victor, the Spoils by [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky IT'S THE BEST FIC IN THE WORLD! When I finished the books this was exactly what I wanted to read, but I didn't think it would exist. AND THEN IT DID! AND I READ IT AND LOVED IT! And now I'm sad that this is the only one of its kind. It's AU, after the Hunger Games. Peeta is dead and Katniss is the victor, and everything is fucked up, messed up and AWESOME! The pairing is Katniss/Haymitch, sort of. So you're warned about that. But if anyone would like to write me something like this then they are so allowed!

- ALSO! Why did no one tell me about all the wonderful genderfuck fics in The Social Network fandom? [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine I'm looking at you! Read: my fingertips are holding onto the cracks in our foundation girl!Mark, who decides to embrace the bitch title and gets a killer makeover that shows her (awesome) breasts and all the boys in the yard (Eduardo) are all 0____0 (description found on delicious). This is brilliant and just so good to read! I love it, love it, love it. Written on the kink meme, though, so there's mistakes here and there, and some parts are better than others. But overall, really good and feeds my genderfuck obsession quite nicely ;)

- Lastly. If any of you haven't started to watch Community yet! DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! BEST SHOW EVER AND I'M NOT KIDDING ABOUT THAT. BEST. SHOW. EVER!

I got stung by a wasp today. I haven't gotten stung since I was nine. I'm seriously pissed. I'm the calmest person when it comes to wasp. I don't scream, I don't run away or wave my hands about. Then it goes and fucking stings my hand.

Drive by rec:

tu es la belle et moi la bête
Inception, R, 5000 words, Arthur/Eames.
Eames laughs and says, “Right, sure, I’m acting like a dog. Of course.”

“No,” Ariadne says. “Really.” She looks serious. Arthur and Cobb look serious too. Everyone looks so serious and Eames just kind of wants them to smile and maybe throw something for him. Failing that, Cobb could just pay him his share already so Eames can get out of here and bury it somewhere safe.

Eames backtracks and reexamines that thought.

Why you should read it: Because it's the funniest fic I've ever read. It had me howling with laughter. So, so funny. Read it, no matter what your shipping preference is. It's that good. And funny.

Have you read any good Inception fic lately that you'd like to share with me? Rec away, my friends.
caramelsilver: (Narnia: Peter and Lucy)
I'm leaving for our cabin tomorrow and I'll be gone the entire week for Easter break. So hopefully, nothing too exciting will happen on the internet while I'm gone. (Kidding. Sorta.) While away I'm planning on reading at least four books, plot out the first episode of Triple H and ski. Yeah, it's Easter time again, and we all know what that means for us Norwegians! We strap on our skis and goes plunging through the woods. Oh, joy. I hate this. (But if Emil Hegle Svendsen suddenly wants to come and teach me, I'll be all for that!)

I did an pinch hit erasure for [livejournal.com profile] katakokk yesterday: Our Lost Kids.

Also, you all need to read this fic:

Could You Be a Little Less by [livejournal.com profile] the_birdnest
You can tell a lot about a society by what it values.. -- It's seriously the best fic that's come out of the Harry Potter fandom in ages.

And while I am in a feministic, reccing mood, check out this awesome poem, it has kickass princess themes: princess by hradzka on DW (what's the nifty code for DW users?) (And what's the rules when it comes to poems? Can I repost the entire thing as long as I credit the author and link back to the original post?)

* I am seriously struggling. I am like an emotional jojo: one day everything looks bright and I'm determined to turn my life around, and the next day I can barely get myself out of bed. What the fuck is wrong with me?

* In much cheerier news: [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine wrote the most awesome Edlyn (girl!Edmund) ficlet for me. And it's awesome and you should go read it: There are things of which they do not speak.

* A random thought: I saw Sweeney Todd again and am I the only one who watches that movie and think: "Anthony and Johanna will never last!"? Because dude! She's a girl who just wanted to get away from her perverted guardian and he fell in love with a girl in a window! There's no fucking way that relationship is going to work!

* I swear a lot. Like... pretty bad actually. I mostly only swear in english, which makes it not so bad to the people around me... but lately I'm actually saying: Motherfuckingcocksuckingpieceofshit out loud. I used to only say it loudly in my head, but now I actually say it out loud and I've realised that that is not actually a good thing... Yeah, I am so messed up and I can't seem to be able to do anything about it! GAAAHHH!

* Also: I think I am going to join the military when I'm done with school. I think it would be good for me. Get some discipline, follow orders, get in shape, get to know new people from around the country... Yeah, I think I'd like that.
caramelsilver: (Glee: Puck/Rachel)
I am totally obsessing about Glee. I've listened to the soundtrack non-stop all day. Except for the awesome music in my ear, my day generally sucked, so the first thing I did when I came home was to read some awesome Puck/Rachel fic to cheer myself up.

Glee: Puck/Rachel fic recs:

A Tale That Can't Be Told by [livejournal.com profile] waldorph; See, the thing is? Now there's a baby, and college, and shit. and a mini sequel with no name, which I have decided to call If Rachel Berry wants peace in the Middle East, there WILL be peace in the Middle East

if you know you can’t beat them, then by [livejournal.com profile] ohladybegood Someone has been spreading the rumor that Puck is the new Defender of the Weak, and he is NOT pleased:"“You’re like Narnia,” Artie tells him one day, trying to look all pathetic just because he’s in a wheelchair. “On the outside you’re this big, scary cupboard but once you go inside—wham. It’s a dream-world of magic.”"

And one about Kurt. This one has his voice down pat: The Ones that Entertain also by [livejournal.com profile] waldorph Kurt? Is going to make this fabulous

I am listening to Sweet Caroline on repeat, because listening to Puck sing my name in his sexy voice makes me feel better.
caramelsilver: (Anastasia: I'd kick her)
So, I'm turning 19 in two days. I'm not too old to feel giddy in anticipation of my birthday, am I? And I'm REALLY looking forward to getting my MacBook!

Hopefully I'll get some money for my bday too, so I can buy my parents some Christmas presents, because I'm really short on cash. I'm going to start looking for a job in January. (I need to start saving money for London June 2010!)

You should totally go and read [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon's awesome Doctor Who/Narnia fic: Whose Other Side Is Salvation

Some awesome three sentence fics you need to read:

[livejournal.com profile] turkeyish wrote Chronicles of Narnia, Edmund, England and cigarettes.

[livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine wrote Anastasia, Dmitri, the best con artist in town

[livejournal.com profile] almostinstinct wrote Gossip Girl, Chuck/Serena, ties and alchohol.

And [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon wrote (absolutely awesome): (Which inspired me to write a 500 long ficlet, which I'll post later this week, hopefully.) Anastasia, Anya/Dimitri, honour among thieves.
caramelsilver: (Edmund)
If you have seen Prince Caspian you need to read this fic. It's absolutly hilarious. Don't worry even though it's posted at Narniaslash there's nothing in it. It's Edmund/Torch and is so freakin funny!

Title: Carrying a Torch
Author:[livejournal.com profile] misslola89
Pairing: Edmund/Torch
Rating: God knows. What rating do you give to the love between a boy and his torch?
Disclaimer: All belonging to Mr Lewis.
Summary: Sometimes Peter thinks Edmund loves his torch too much.

I just finished reading Wild Swans - by Jung Chang and omg that book is good. I learned so much about China that I didn't know, and there where times were I felt so angry about the stuff Mao made them do! I recommend it so much! Everybody should read it!!
