Thinky thoughts on the new Doctor Who
So four episodes of the new series of Doctor Who has aired and I'm so far very pleased.
Though, I agree with a lot of people who has said that the episodes themselves haven't been all that strong... or, well The Eleventh Hour was pretty damn awesome, and I think the introduction of Amy Pond was brilliant! It makes for an interesting character since she has basically been dreaming of this man her entire life. I'm so looking forward to seeing what will happen and what they will do with Amy's abandonment issues. The Beast Below had an awesome concept, but didn't quite follow through. The less said about The Victory of the Daleks the better. But The Time of Angels was deliciously scary and has some wonderful moments. Can't wait for next week.
Matt Smith as the Doctor is absolutely awesome. I adore him and there's not a single thing that I don't like about him. (Except his awful clothes.) I like that he's not like Ten, but he still has some characteristics that reminds you of Ten (and I'm sure other Doctor's too, I just haven't watched any Old!Who to recognize them.) I can clearly see that he has had a long life, even though he looks and acts rather youthful. I love how he's arrogant and rude, and I even liked the shushing.
River Song, on the other hand, I really don't like. I can recognize her awesomeness, but I still don't like her. I really didn't liked her in The Silence of the Library, and was not excited to hear that she was coming back. I liked her more in The Time of Angels, but she still annoys me a lot. And I finally found out why. And it's not because I think she's a Mary Sue (though she do have some borderline MS tendencies...)but because I really, really don't like characters that knows more than the Doctor. And she's so smug about it too. Which is why she gets massively on my nerves. And why the hell does she know how to fly the TARDIS better than the Doctor?? Who the fuck thought her that? And the Gallifreyan?? How does she know that?? And yeah, maybe I'm a bit miffed at the supposed special relationship she has with the Doctor (and that has nothing to do with shipping preferences. I think it has more to do with me not seeing any of it. It annoys me to be told about this super-special relationship, but never showed!) I'm not even sure if she's legit! I'm starting to think that she is totally just playing him. I think she might be a Time Agent or at least a con-woman of some sort...
But she was pretty awesome this episode. And if she didn't have this "special" relationship with the Doctor (which I'm probably just jealous of. I want to know these things too!) I would love her. She is feisty and spunky and... Did you see her just floating off that spaceship!? That was pretty darn awesome.
One last thing: Matt Smith is sexy, you all! I was not expecting to feel this way, because he does not look it on pictures. But the way he acts and moves and talks, I just... guh! He's also the first Doctor that I can see having sex. I though David Tennant was sex on a stick, but I could never imagine Ten having sex. Not even with Rose, and I shipped that! But him and Amy? I can see it.
Totally random: Did he bite her? Cause I totally missed that the first time around. Still, that scene was kinda hot.
