This was so much fun last year, so I'm doing it again!

The rules:

This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

Shelter, Zach/Shaun, first fight.

Zach knows this is love, but has no idea what the fuck that means; he's too jaded to believe that love always lasts forever, and he knows love can fade, and he knows love does not guarantee a happy ending. Love doesn't fix the age-deep cracks in a person's heart; it can put a superficial shine over them, the happy gloss of a first kiss's exhiliration, but to fix them takes commitment; it takes work.

Zach has enough insecurities and walls for ten people, and sometimes Shaun likes to push, and sometimes they spark off of each other in a fury; the first time it happens it scares the shit out of Zach, but he learns: Shaun wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his life sealing up the cracks in Zach's heart for good; and they might fight, but Shaun comes back; he always comes back, and he always will.

Eduardo finds Erica unexpectedly one night in a bar- it's the night he brought action against Mark- and he recognizes her at once; as she recognizes him.
"Hey," he tells her slipping to the empty seat next to her and ordering a drink- she doesn't answer back but doesn't look unwelcoming either and he notices she's not as happy as she used to be; exactly like him.
So when she attacks his neck with her lips later in the night, he doesn't resist; they're both hurt- in pain because of the stupidity of the same person- friend or boyfriend, and that brings them together; maybe, just maybe, he allows himself to hope for the first time in weeks, something good will get out of this.

Steve takes in the destruction of his kitchen, eyeing the hand mixer with disdain as he cleans up the cake batter from the floor, the counter, his clothes, and even the ceiling.

He's so engrossed in his stare down with the hated appliance that he doesn't see Danny advancing on him until he's backed up against the wall, Danny right in front of him, and the glare turns into an expression of worry as he asks, "I'm not much of a baker, but do you think like it anyway?"

Pulling him down by the shoulders, Danny looks at him with a smile on his face and says, "Of course Grace will like her birthday cake, it was made by her Uncle Steve, after all."

It was easier when he hadn't seen them in so long, when Dean wasn't standing there with a grin on his face and an unspoken plea in his eyes (Sammy come home); he could pretend that he was happy with his midterms and finals, with Jess and his friends, with no monsters and no Dean.

Sam could send him away now; he could tell Dean no and I'm done with that and Dad can take care of himself; and Dean would go (because he may be older, but he has nothing on Sam when it comes to stubbornness, and he knows it, too); he could do that.

In the end, it's no kind of choice at all.

RENT, Mark, sellout

His friends mock and tease but Roger is grateful that Mark's job puts food on their table and allows them the luxury of a warm apartment because he needs to take good care of himself so he doesn't succumb to death like Angel and Mimi. Collins jokes about Mark selling his soul in installments and it can feel that way sometimes but it isn't all vapid gossip he reports on and he's been able to report on events that matter to him and his friends like more of Maureen's protests which caused viewers to picket Mr Grey's offices until he 'decided' to make some charitable investments. Mark still has his dreams but they don't pay the bills so like a lot of people he does a job he detests to fund his more personal projects so he can rebuild the bits of his soul that Buzzline chips away.
