I was mistaken (unforunately). Perez Hilton did a blog on the fact that Hugh Jackman was in talk to do Les Mis and he suggested Ramin play Javert.
Paul Bettany hasn't got the voice for it, IIRC. Mind you, it also depends on who they get to play Marius, Cosette, Fantine, Eponine et al.
