Captain James Tiberius Kirk, renowned pirate of the sea with his trusty first mate Leonard 'Bones' McCoy--it's not the kind of life McCoy ever imagined for himself growing up; he'd learned his trade as a doctor and thought he'd found his place in life, until a persuasive young pirate captain with more charm than any one person should have kidnapped him onto his ship. It's probably telling that McCoy hasn't tried particularly hard to fight his way off the Enterprise, but he decides not to think too hard about that.
The sea around him is beautiful in its unpredictability (even as he's getting his sea legs and fighting not to be sick for the first week), and it's as blue as anything he's seen--but it still can't touch the brightness of Jim's eyes.
