fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Byakuya's hand cracks across Renji's face, hard enough that Renji tastes blood; Byakuya looks startled at himself, color high, eyes wide and dark.

"If you can't—if you can't—" Byakuya says, eyes dropping to Renji's lips when Renji's tongue slides out, smearing blood across his mouth. Renji's pulse thunders loudly in his ears, but all Byakuya does is press his own mouth into a thin line before saying, "Don't let it happen again."
