Perhaps his eighteenth birthday will bring changes even if it's just the Captain and the Doctor would stop calling him kid because once he's an adult they'll have to treat him as such, what Chekov doesn't know is that as the youngest he'll always be seen as the kid and it's not meant as an insult.

Perhaps people will listen to his opinions more but to be honest the Captain does trust him he just wishes he had the words to put his ideas across clearly instead of using technical explanations that people don't always understand, he doesn't realise that this has nothing to do with age and that he and Scotty will always have trouble being understood but the Captain will learn in time to just agree because they both know what they're talking about and sometimes there is no time for explanations.

Perhaps once he is officially an adult Hikaru will allow their friendship to develop beyond that one kiss they shared and haven't spoken of since despite the looks they exchange, he doesn't know it yet but on the night of his birthday he will find the courage to approach Hikaru beginning a long loving relationship between the two of them.

Oh Chekov! I love that he wants to be seen as an adult, because no one deserves it more than him. And how sometimes he just doesn't understand why people treat him the way they do. This is sweet and ultimately hopeful. And I love him and Hikaru together so much. Thank you
