Puck/Kurt

(I had to make this four sentences, or there would have been way too many semicolons. :D)

The possibility of falling in love with Kurt never occurred to him at all, and he never admitted to himself that it was love; he knows his own type, intensely self-assured and confident, and there is no one braver than Kurt, who has fought and fought and fought to be accepted in his own skin.

Puck can't do that, he doesn't know how; so when Kurt asks him why he's been staring all the time, Puck snarls something disparaging, lashes out in blind panic, because he is not ready to admit that truth about himself; maybe he never will be.

Or maybe all it takes is time; five years later he sees Kurt, still lean and impeccably dressed, with the same unexpectedly young smile; they get to talking, a little uncomfortable, until Puck lays a hand on Kurt's arm and says, "I'm sorry," and Kurt lifts his eyebrows and asks, "For what?"

Puck clenches his jaw, looks at his hands, says, "For not being brave enough five years ago," and when he looks up there's a smile in Kurt's eyes; "What about now?" Kurt asks gently, reaching up to trace over Puck's mouth, "are you brave enough now?" and Puck leans in, answers with his lips and his touch what he can't say with words.
