Sokka insists it's just simple mathematics when he explains boomerang trajectories and throwing speeds. Zuko pretends to be interested, and he thinks that this must be what it's like for non-benders -- they have to rely on things like math to compensate for their lack of connection with the constituent parts of the world.

Still, there are some things that boys have in common: when Zuko suggests a swim in lieu of geometry, Sokka says, without hesitation, "Just let me get my trunks."

It took Katara a while to really understand the word "lunacy."

It took a red agonizing night and then the brightness of the moon's return; it also took a deathly night where that strength lashed and roiled inside her and she was hardly herself.

It's the opposite and thoroughly worse when the moon disappears monthly: she feels empty like loneliness, and where her waterbending rests it aches but (she holds him close) nothing like Sokka's heart.

It was May, but spring had been cold that year so Susan decided to let the fire burn in her room, even if it resulted in endless mocking from her brothers.

But after a few days she realised that Peter and Edmund were spending far more time in her room than normal- this puzzled her to no end until she one afternoon asked them why, while the four of them were having tea.

Peter and Edmund shifted nervously and looked at each other in embarrassment before Edmund muttered, "Our rooms are cold."

They do it all the time when they say goodbye, and it leaves her body tingling every single time. The only difference, this time, is that Arthur is present - and, as Morgana smirks, he looks as if his tongue is about to loll from his mouth in lust, surprise and jealousy.

They could of gone anywhere in the universe, all they needed to do was set the coordinates into the ships computer and they'd be there. Instead, they found themselves in the pit of engineering, where no body ventured, carrying enough food to feed a family of four (it was Jim afterall) and a couple of blankets. Later on, after they'd made themselves home laying in each others arms Jim turned to Bones "You're right Bones, we could have taken a roadtrip anywhere, but anywhere wouldn't be the same without each other."

Star Trek 2009, Kirk/McCoy, an ordinary average day

Jim thrives in a disaster situation, it's like the pressure makes his neurons fire a little faster, it's how he's proved to everyone he deserves to be Captain. McCoy's not fond of disasters, medics rarely are and he worries about his Captain, his lover. The one thing they do agree on is appreciating the everyday moments, like waking in each others' arms, meeting up for lunch or chatting about their days just before bed.

It's easy to fall into old habits as they travel from factory to factor, blowing up Cybermen, dodging death rays and sometimes even laughing as they do it. Sometimes Jake forgets it's not Rickey there with him, but not as often as he expected to, originally. Mickey's been softened, opened up, and he smiles more, jokes more, and when he kisses Jake it feels like a first, not a last.

It's hard to go back when you forget what it's like to be children, when you've grown up surround by an entire kingdom watching you.

You think that maybe this is a blessing, that you get to do it all over again, but things are different now.

It takes awhile to realize it, to see that things aren't like they were in Narnia, to see him pulling away and moving on, and finding yourself wishing for something you're not entirely sure even happened.

Peter suspects it's actually a game, this information-gathering, and Neal cheats at it like he cheats at any game. But Neal would never give him the wrong information, never proves Peter's trust in him wrong -- so they'll go on playing it.

"But she is our home and she is your ship, so I will be careful," River smiles.

None of the others realise just how Edmund's mind can solve it so much faster, so he sits back and lets Peter (try to) sort it out. When Peter inevitably messes it all, Edmund will step in and fix it with hardly a word and then leave. Lucy will giggle, Susan will look pensive, Peter will take offence, and Edmund will go back to observing.
