Sokka insists it's just simple mathematics when he explains boomerang trajectories and throwing speeds. Zuko pretends to be interested, and he thinks that this must be what it's like for non-benders -- they have to rely on things like math to compensate for their lack of connection with the constituent parts of the world.

Still, there are some things that boys have in common: when Zuko suggests a swim in lieu of geometry, Sokka says, without hesitation, "Just let me get my trunks."
