The hull creaks, and for a second, her eyes tightly shut, she imagines that it was her bones making those noises as the photon blasts tore through the metal of a ship very much like this one. Eyes open again, she quickly scooped up a welding unit and began patching Deck 15's interior wall, which bent dangerously inwards. When she had followed Uhura onto the Enterprise only hours before, she had never imagined that her punishment would be living beyond that day.
