Aaron has grown so used to Dave's arms ending up around him during the moments he's fighting off burnout that he barely notices the first time Dave kisses him. He doesn't think Dave does either--he acts without thinking, brushing Aaron's forehead with his lips, trying to chase away the horrible emotional ache that comes with facing injustice.
After a minute or two Aaron realizes that something new and different and right has happened, but really what he can't figure out (watching comprehension dawn in Dave's eyes before kissing him properly) is why it hasn't happened sooner.
