So I got the memo that LJ is being a total bitch, and while I don't really care all that much, I still think this cross-posting thing is the dumbest thing since... I don't know.

So I've made it impossible for you to do that when you comment to my LJ. Not, like I said, that I particularly care, but stupid things should be stopped.

(HOW ON EARTH COULD ANYONE THINK THAT, "OH, PEOPLE WOULD PROBABLY LOVE THE OPTION TO CROSS-POST THINGS TO FACEBOOK! BECAUSE LJ AND FACEBOOK IS TOTALLY ALIKE AND THE SAME THING! THEY WILL PROBABLY THANK US!" IDIOTS! Facebook is for RL, LJ is for fun. Get it straight.)

If you want to block people from cross-posting things from your journal then do this:

1. Go to Journal > Journal Style

2. Go to Customize your theme

3. Go to Custom CSS

4. Paste in this code: .b-repost-item {display:none}

5. Save changes.

Works like a charm!

So people are talking about leaving and stuff, but despite all of LJ's douchebaggery, I quite like it here. Especially all the coms that aren't over at DW. And as we all know, I hate change. So until everyone has left for DW, I'm staying here.

! Thanks for sharing this code! I'm going to add it to the post I just made :) I feel like I've seen a lot of freakout lj-wide and this is the easiest way to nip the risk in the bud.

I'm with you on staying at LJ vs DW. It's an established community, and as mobile as information on the internet is, I don't want to lose archives or have to rebuild connections, cos that will take work and I will feel disoriented, haha. *hates change too*

Ahhh, thank you thank you. I don't want to leave LJ, and I don't have hardly any crossover of people between LJ and Facebook, but I didn't like that thing. So now it's taken care of!

Thank you so much for this!
I'm going to repost this code in my own journal.

okay what am I doing wrong? I pasted it in but it doesn't seem to be working. I go to journal --> journal style --> customize --> custom css --> and then in the drop down box thing I have "yes" and in the custom style sheet thing I have .b-repost-item {display:none}. But if I go to comment I still have that option! Uuuugh why am I so fail, please help?

You need to have the drop down box say "no".

Hope that works=)
