Welcome to the Three Sentence Fic-A-Thon:

Photobucket

This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

Have fun!

If you have any questions ask them to the first comment.

Edit December 10th: Thanks to the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine we now have a delicious account. So head on over there to find some unfilled prompts: three_sentence_ficathon's delicious bookmarks.

A small note from [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine who's organizing the delicious archive: "So I'm not familiar with all the fandoms here; sometimes when people post a ficlet they abbreviate a fandom and sometimes they don't (like BSG versus Battlestar Galactica, but I know that one) so I might have it listed twice in the delicious tags. If someone notices something messed up they can comment below." -- So do that, and when requesting something new, please use the fandom's whole name.

Shelter, Zach/Shaun, I can do this

[personal profile] samueljames 2010-01-07 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Shaun is frustrated, it's his third attempt and even Cody has a better score than him. Zach mocks him jokingly as Shaun gets frustrated determined that it won't beat him, if he can bowl in real life he should be able to play this stupid game. "Look, I can do this" he says swinging the remote and letting out a celebratory "yes!" when the ball stays out of the gutter, Zach rewards him with a kiss.

Shelter, Zach/Shaun, up all night

[personal profile] samueljames 2010-01-07 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It isn't the first time they've stayed up all night but usually it's a celebration or a chance to see the sun rise on a new day. Of course there is New Year and other parties that have gone on longer than planned but this is different and in no way enjoyable. Shaun does his best, trying to support Zach while keeping his own worry suppressed but Zach is just grateful to have him there by Cody's bedside, the doctors are hopeful for a recovery but that's little comfort when he hasn't opened his eyes in three days.

Supernatural, Mary and John Winchester, Christmas on the road

[identity profile] elliemurasaki.livejournal.com 2009-12-28 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Mary sits in the back of the small Lutheran church and listens to the bell choir ring out "O Come All Ye Faithful", to the young woman singing Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?, to the familiar stories of Mary and Joseph and the census and the shepherds; John is beside her, paying attention only when the lights dim and the flame is passed from candle to candle—he only cares about the parts of the Bible that help him on the hunt, which the Joyful Mysteries don't—and strangers sit where Dean and Sam belong, but her boys were alive and doing their job as of this morning's check-in, and Dean and Sam are as good at their job with a combined fifty years of experience as John and Mary are with seventy-five hunting plus John's Marine tour, so she needn't worry about them.

John the Baptist (I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit) and Mary the Blessed (blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb) and their boys, one Jesus and one Judas Iscariot or Judas Thaddeus or the beloved disciple and damned if anyone knows which is which (take this cup from me and greetings, teacher; friend, do what you came for and here is your son; here is your mother and they know not what they do but mostly one goat for God and one for Azazel, one a sin-offering and one a scapegoat): they're the most fucked-up family that's lived since Jesus's own, but that's fair, since they're also the most burdened family since Jesus's own.

It's all right, because they're Winchesters—it matters not how strait the gate, they are masters of their fate: Sam and Dean will do what Jesus (self-evidently) couldn't, and Mary and John will be with them every step of the way (except for the bits such as now where the boys are en route to a haunting in Arizona while she and John investigate what might be, for all they know so far, Mr. Heat Miser in Pennsylvania, or possibly Mr. Snow Miser by the Chesapeake and there's just a limited amount of precipitation to go around)—but sometimes Mary needs a night to shed Mary Campbell the hunter and Mary Winchester of the Holy Fucking Family and the boys of the NYPD choir singing "Galway Bay": she's alive and so are her husband and sons and hundreds of innocents despite the world's best efforts to the contrary, and the bells are ringing out for tomorrow's Christmas Day.

Narnia, boy!Pevensies, this is how we fall apart

[identity profile] caramelsilver.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They are never really together anymore; when they see each other it's always one on one, and when they are all four it's not the same- lots of awkward silences and conversations that never gets started. There's a great unspoken thing in the room that no one points out anymore; (what's the point?) Lucas is permanently angry at Sam, and Peter tries endlessly to mediate between them-- Sam refuses to even mention Narnia- he even gets uncomfortable when they talk about Queen Elizabeth, because he's afraid Lucas is going to use that topic to steer the conversation over to other things and Edmund, Edmund loves all his brothers and refuse to even get involved; Narnia was real and that's that; if Sam is going to claim any different then that's his problem, but he's going to have to go without Edmund's company. To deny Narnia is something Edmund will never do; and that's why they are falling apart- No one is talking to each other anymore.

Glee, ensemble, music revolution

[personal profile] pleonasm 2009-12-30 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mr. Schue, you promised no more disco," Rachel said, with more than a little whine to her voice, and the rest of the kids joined in with empathic chorus; the Glee director looked at them with injury in his eyes and tried to explain his reasoning for this piece, but he could tell no one was listening-- Puck was making spitballs to throw at Rachel, Finn had zoned into his own world, Kurt and Mercedes were examining their fingernails, Brittany and Santana were whispering about something, and even Rachel was only waiting until he stopped speaking to offer her own lengthy, well-researched suggestions.

"Fine, fine," Will said, interrupting his explanation and lifting his hands in defeat; "If you insist on revolting I can't stop you."

"You say you want a revolution," Finn started singing, grinning, and by the end of the second line most of them had joined in, and the pianist had caught the tune; Will just had to smile too, and there were no protests to the Beatles tune.

Merlin/Narnia, ensemble, the world between worlds

[identity profile] lizzie-marie-23.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
(I haven't actually seen Merlin, so I'm drawing off of my other knowledge)

When Merlin was a very small, they said he could see spirits, and it was true; he felt it when the trees changed into into a golden gleaming essence filled with not-pools of dry water and knew it was a different world. He saw another boy stretched out next to one of the pools and asked where they were. Digory yawned sleepily and answered that this was the wood between the worlds and that they'd both been there forever.

The iron can remember the feeling, remembers each bit of the cloth as she presses down upon him, his soft skin a contrast to her metallic hardness.

There are many cloths, to be sure, and they are all neighbors on Closet Street: the prim oxford who lives next door to the fancy pleated skirt, she across the street from the t-shirt, whom the iron has never met.

But the one she remembers the most is the old button-down, soft from years and years of wear and tear, but ever willing to be made crisp and new beneath her.

Supernatural, Sam and Dean and outside PoV, God and sinners reconciled

[identity profile] elliemurasaki.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
After Mass, the church usually clears as fast as the bottlenecks at the exits allow, but today cleanup after coffee-and-donuts social hour is nearly finished and two young men Patrick hasn't seen before are still in a pew near the back, one kneeling with hands folded, one sitting and reading a Bible; the kneeling man looks up as Patrick approaches and begins, "Deus meus, ex toto corde paenitet me omnium meorum peccatorum," and his companion interrupts, "Dude, English;" the kneeling man snorts and continues, "and I detest my sins above every other evil—" and Patrick gestures at the confessional and says "I can't promise the sanctity of the seal of the confessional if others are listening."

"Doesn't matter," the kneeling man says, "my brother was there for most of it and we won't be here long enough to care what anyone else thinks," which explains why Patrick hasn't seen them before, and repeats "I detest my sins above every other evil," and his mouth opens and closes twice before he skips to "I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace never more to offend Thee and to amend my life, amen;" whatever is troubling the young man, Patrick thinks, given the lines omitted, a crisis of faith is at the heart of it, but before Patrick can comment on this, the young man says, "Her name was Cindy; I killed her," which isn't at all what Patrick is expecting, and he is about to tell the young man to speak to the authorities when the young man says "But God can't raise the dead, can He—" and his brother coughs, and the young man follows his brother's gaze to the crucifix above the altar, and his mouth twists into a humorless smile and he says "never mind, stupid question—but He doesn't, so it doesn't matter whether you say I'm washed clean of sin, it doesn't even matter whether it's true when you say it, she'll still be dead—she was a nurse in neonatal intensive care; how many kids suffered because she wasn't there for them, how many died?"

They are sisters, all three of them, born in quick succession and never apart, for you cannot have one without the other.

--

Music takes the lead, she dips her fingers in the pots of her younger sisters' lives, but they need her and eagerly devour her offerings.

--

Their lives are indistinct and messy, divided by genres, until they reunite on Broadway.

"My broken promise meant I didn't have to kill someone I never knew I cared for, but he died anyway," Draco answers quietly, and Oliver reaches out to hug him gently.

[personal profile] pleonasm 2009-12-30 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
He kissed her that afternoon but this wasn't a fairytale and she wasn't a princess, even if she was as beautiful; one kiss didn't mean happily-ever-after.

She left McKinley with Will's warm smell in her nose, and she was good about taking phone calls but there were no more kisses, no more flirtations, until Terri was totally gone; she was firm on this, and Emma was so rarely firm on anything, especially in guidance, but Will knew she was right.

One day he'd take her hand, twirl her around, and they would dance (all night, if she wanted), but they would take it slow at first, because in the real world you had to make your own happiness.

Oliver, I most certainly will not—no, what good is this going to...Oliver, no...Percy's eyes are shut and his one sound arm has possibly crushed Oliver around the middle, by the time they’re broomstick-heights above a castle in ruins and his careful world knocked to pieces and his very dead brother —notnowPercydon’tthinkofthat-

You aren’t to blame, Percy opens his eyes; Oliver has twisted around; a bloodshot, shadowed gaze and stitches clinging to one cheek; but he says, fiercer than the sudden sun in their eyes, You get that into your head, Perce—I won’t let you down there until you do.

Just take us higher, if you like, Percy says as mechanically as he can, but he slumps against the other boy’s back and tries not to shiver in the sunlight, as they both soar further from solid ground.

"I'm sorry, there's no way you could have known," she continues in a more subdued voice, "but this is our land."

Chronicles of Narnia, girl!Edmund, you won't hurt my family

[identity profile] caramelsilver.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Edlyn knew she would never be able to forgive herself for all the bad things she did, all the horrible thoughts and words she said about her siblings- how she sold them out for sweets. When the White Witch strode into Aslan's Camp as if she owned it, Edlyn's throat closed up and revulsion and attraction battled it out in her body; when Peter stepped in front of her and claimed she had to go through him to get to her, Edlyn had never loved him more. So when she saw the White Witch going for Peter, (and even though she had planned to be a good girl and get away like Peter said) she instinctively turned around and ran to protect him; this time she would not be the one responsible for him getting hurt and there was no way in hell she was going to let the White Witch kill him.

Narnia, Edmund, thoughts on Calormen

[identity profile] katakokk.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
It is too hot in Calormen, that is what Edmund decides when he arrives in he sandy, dusty, crowded city of Tashbaan, riding up to the Tisroc's palace as a crier runs before him, warning people to make way fo the barbarian king, crowding the people together more, raising the heat, and the dust.

He thinks it is like what the Sahara would be like, except soon it becomes that the Sahara would be like Calormen, and not that Calormen is like the Sahara, whatever that very well may be.

It is a land of sand, of heat, and of water, but only of the kind that runs from your eyes and makes dry faces sting.

Peter smiles, and it's like the sun coming out of the clouds, "I only wanted to see that you were honest - you can go see her now."

Narnia, Susan and Peter, responsibility

[identity profile] katakokk.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
When their father goes to war, and their mother goes to work to support the family, Peter and Susan must step up to raise the family. It is almost like playing house, like when they were small, when Peter was "Daddy" and Susan was "Mummy," and Ed and Lu were the good little children.

Then, of course, the fall term begins and their glass castles of "responsibility" are shattered.
