Welcome to the Three Sentence Fic-A-Thon:

Photobucket

This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

Have fun!

If you have any questions ask them to the first comment.

Edit December 10th: Thanks to the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine we now have a delicious account. So head on over there to find some unfilled prompts: three_sentence_ficathon's delicious bookmarks.

A small note from [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine who's organizing the delicious archive: "So I'm not familiar with all the fandoms here; sometimes when people post a ficlet they abbreviate a fandom and sometimes they don't (like BSG versus Battlestar Galactica, but I know that one) so I might have it listed twice in the delicious tags. If someone notices something messed up they can comment below." -- So do that, and when requesting something new, please use the fandom's whole name.

Mathematics, i/pi, "Be rational" "Get real"

I had to write this because of my icon.

[personal profile] pleonasm 2010-01-23 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The integers are a close-knit group, because they are countable, and that makes them all loved and special, or so they say; and the rational numbers are as inseparable as twins, the denominator always finishing the numerator's expressions.

Mathematics was not friendly to i or pi, except in certain specialized fields, and neither of them were kind to each other; the familiar argument always rang out between them, i's insistence that pi should be rational, pi's retort that i should just get real.

And no one suspected a thing until πi walked into the equation, and looked at its factors, and asked why mommy and daddy were fighting again.

Othello, Iago/Othello, the world within ourselves.

[identity profile] lizzie-marie-23.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh honest Iago, you are all I need, all I will ever need, because you are here. My wife is lovely, but she has no idea what it is to be a soldier, while you, you hold the world of fighting and the world of courting together in your mind. We will be together forever, my dear.

Harry Potter, the trio, a destination not too far away

[identity profile] atruebluesky.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ron couldn't help but notice that though all the years they were always just going, going, going: going to class, going to danger, going anywhere they were needed to be because they had to. But their final destination was never quite clear; they always had something else to do after, somewhere else they were needed, something else they had to keep on living and fighting for, and there was never an end or a final stop in sight.

But when he saw Harry's body limp in Hagrid's arms and heard Hermione's horrified sob, he finally realized that their final destination maybe wasn't so far away after all- because Death doesn't like to be kept waiting and they'd already evaded him long enough.

Vaguery is a go!

All's well that ends well.

It began with an apology, awkward and fumbling but sincere, and ended with something like respect (yet borne of a heat more intimate than simple detached regard).

All was well.

Doctor Who, Doctor/Master, tick tock

[identity profile] alder-knight.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Forty seconds left to live," says the Master gleefully, triumphantly, "thirty-eight seconds before we all go up in flames and your precious Earth meets the same fate as dear old Gallifrey... I wonder, will you regenerate somehow, find some way to keep living, or will the tragic grief of it all finally kill you for good... and if it does, how will you live these last thirty seconds you've got?"

The Doctor doesn't speak - he lunges forward, hands still held behind him even though he worked out of the binds minutes ago while the Master ranted, and presses his mouth frantically, urgently, to the Master's, who seems somewhat less than surprised, gripping a fist into the Doctor's hair and chuckling madly into the kiss.

"I'm sorry," whispers the Doctor, after a moment, "I'm so sorry," and he slams his knee into the Master's solar plexus, buying himself enough time to whip his sonic screwdriver from his pocket, aim it at the reactor, and shut the whole thing down before the counter reaches zero.

People always said that Queen Edlyn was as unshakable as ice. Queen Susan, on the other hand, had the reputation of being warm and gentle; her steely resolve was only shown to few. What no one knew was that everything Edlyn knew about poise and keeping her cool she learned from Susan.

Racetrack only cared for himself--something everyone assumed whenever he won money at the tracks. They never realized that it disappeared suddenly, and not on cigars--but on things for his friends. They never bothered to ask and he never bothered to tell them, but that was the price to pay for the newsies' very own Robin Hood--a friend of the friendless.

Wicked, Avaric, celebrate life (for as long as you can.)

[identity profile] fiendlikethee.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Taking liberties with canon is a go!

He was fifteen when his younger brother died. Consumption, they said, a tragedy, one so young, and bundled Avaric away to school, swaddled in all the protection his status could afford.

When the haze of his grief finally lifts, he shrugs off his family's well-meaning restraints and throws himself into the perpetual party world of the rich and careless and never looks back.

Doctor Who, Nine/Mickey "you kissed me first."

[identity profile] alder-knight.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oi, the hell was that for?!" cried Mickey, stepping back in horror and wiping his mouth frantically on his sleeve.

"Listen," hissed the Doctor, pulling an equally distasteful frown, "the only way we're going to convince these guards that we're a couple is if we act like one - you're not exactly my first choice for a snog either!"

They glared at one another for a moment, and slowly approached the desk with the guards, following the queue; as they reached the check-in table, the Doctor greeted them, saying, "Allo, then, we're here for the couples retreat - I'm the Doctor, and this is Mickey, my, ah... well he's -" but whatever he'd planned to say next was lost as Mickey planted a massive, vindictive surprise smooch on the Doctor's lips, and after a panicked moment of confusion, the Doctor reciprocated, treating the guards to a bit of a show, really, which did the trick of earning them access to the private facility; later, they would both vehemently, rather defensively, deny having enjoyed a moment of it.

Chronicles of Narnia, Pevensies, synesthesia

[identity profile] weisquared.livejournal.com 2010-01-28 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Two sets of three sentences.

When Lucy sees the color white, she hears the tinkling of Father Christmas’s bells, blue and she hears the song of mermaids, and gold, Aslan’s roar – even in England, Narnia is everywhere.

Betrayal leaves the taste of Turkish Delight on Edmund’s tongue, as does selfishness, spitefulness, and greed, and the sweetness on his tongue still makes him sick to his stomach.

In True Narnia, the fruits are sweeter, the distances deeper, hearts and limbs are stronger, so it shouldn’t surprise Peter that even hearing Aslan’s name makes him smell the warm scent in his nose and feel soft fur under his hands.

(Mostly because I always picture Adult Susan as a professor in my head.)

Susan looks at some of her students – the ones who she knows will switch to a lower level come add/drop date because they’re afraid, the ones here to impress a certain boy or girl, the ones who just want to have the highest numbers on their transcripts – and wants to tell them about the literal beauty of mathematics, that the Fourier transform was not only useful and elegant and brilliant, but also pretty with the way the enthusiastic green e holds a rainbow pendent trailing after it, and the saucy red f is even bolder with his hat, and this was what opened the eyes of a girl obsessed with nylons and lipsticks to the idea that there might be more to the world, but she can’t. She ought to be used to it by now, but sometimes, Susan is tired of seeing things that no one else sees, knowing things no one else knows, and she still needs to get tenure before she can tell anyone that equations are communities of bright personalities and colors living together. Once upon a time, her siblings might have understood, but they’re gone, and Susan’s alone, and maybe she really is crazy for giving personalities scribbles on a page.

"I've missed you, is all," he murmurs, and she just smiles her picture-perfect smile and sips her wine, watching him. She doesn't reply, and he doesn't know what to say now.

Chronicles of Narnia, Edmund, solace in winter

[identity profile] makinhistory.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Edmund hates winter; "It's the cold," he lies, but the others know it's because of her, the queen of the ice, that he shudders at the sight of snow.

Lucy puts her spindly arms around his shoulders, says, "Cheer up, brother - everyone knows the winter comes before the spring, just like it must be dark before it can get light again."

She has always had a way of making him feel better.

The entries are a bit dull, full of hyperboles, comma splices, purple prose and--dear god, is that an exclamation mark with a heart instead of a dot? Then there are the doodles marking almost every single page: the most frequent of these are boys' names (Finn, Finn, Finn, Puck, Finn, Puck, Finn, Finn, Finn, Finn, Finn, Shu, Finn) and more hearts. I was just about to laugh at her lameness when a single entry caught my eye: ":(" was all she wrote; and I stared and stared and stared.

Percy wasn't the impulsive type-- actually, he prided himself on being the opposite, the one Weasley that planned in the long term.

So, he isn't sure why, when Oliver Wood stands before him, smiling cheerfully and drawling with that oh-so-charming accent, "Fancy a meal sometime?", he wants to say yes.

He doesn't even really know the man, outside of a few embarrassing dreams he'd never admit to, but when he opens his mouth to decline, he hears the words pouring out of him in a rush, "Of course I do."
