Susan can tell right away that this tall stately lady has some kind of magic in her blood, so it's only courtly habit that makes her drop into a bow. Mary Poppins can tell right away that this girl who's too old to still have skinned knees is practically perfect in just about every way, so it follows naturally that she takes her hand and brings her to the rooftop.
