He likes it when Bones is rough with him, gets off on the tight grip on his hair or the hard thrusts that only sometimes hit his prostate, Bones fucks him but he directs the show with "faster", "harder" or "I can take it."

They do have romantic slow sex sometimes but he always needs to counteract that with the rough stuff, he's well aware of how fucked up it is and in his reflective moments he allows himself to wonder if it's all down to Frank or if he'd have been into pain anyway.

Frank used to beat the crap out of Jim telling him "pain is weakness leaving the body", sadistic son of a bitch just couldn't stand having him around, Jim always feels better after a session with Bones, more like he's got his head screwed on straight so maybe there's something to Frank's words; he doesn't dwell on it often because the two situations are very different and even though he'll never know why he needs it the important thing is that Bones can tell when he does and will always take care of him afterwards.
