Catcher in the Rye, Holden, running away from choices

Holden lay in the hospital bed, staring up at the blank wall--the headache that set in would become something permament and he knew it. DB and his parents had visited him a few times and soon he would be out and ready to start in a new school they had already enrolled him in.

But he liked staying in the quiet ward that smelled funny and listened to the whispers in the halls--this would be the last time he would be able to run away from making choices.
