caramelsilver: (Misc: London)
I went to an education fair today. You know, a big hall with all the higher education schools in stalls, each trying to persuade you that their school is the perfect school for you? Anyway, it was somewhat interesting. I suddenly don't know what I'm going to do with the first year I have after I finish upper secondary... I thought I was going to start studying right away, but now I'm wondering if I might go away for a year and study something just for a year abroad...

I do know what I want to do with my life you see. I want to be a... huh. Wikipedia can't translate the page to English... does that mean it doesn't exist outside Northern Europe? Anyway, I want to be something we call a kateket. It's not a priest, but it's the person who gets to work with the children and teens. When we go on Confirmation camp the kateket is the one who's in charge. Basically you are a teacher and your job is to teach children and confirmants about Christianity and how the Church works. "My"kateket, the woman who works at our church, is so awesome and I would be lying if I didn't say that she has inspired me a lot. And I know that not all churches are as awesome as ours. (Because they so aren't! We rule in the non-bored department), but if/when I become one, I would do my hardest to make it like ours, because it's such a good environment, and such a safe-place for all kids around. I want to be a person that makes a good and safe environment like that.

To become one, I have to take a masters in Christianity. And I'm so sure about this, and it feels so good to have this figured out! I know what I'm working towards, I have a future, and that makes everything so much easier.

MEME-TIME (BECAUSE I NEED SOME FUN!)

Tell me the title of a story I've never written and a short summary of that story. If it inspires me, I might write a short excerpt!

(This is a bastardized version of an already existing meme, but I'm to lazy to go look for the original wording. So this will have to do.)

I'm itching to write something. Prompt me?

I love Sundays like these. I get to sleep in, there's biathlon on TV (my bb. Emil Hegle Svendsen didn't do all that well today. He's still in the lead to win the World Cup, though!) and there's ski jumping in the new Holmenkollen! (The ski jump hill in Oslo.) My mum is cooking dinner in the kitchen and my dog is lying comfortably in my lap. Yeah, this is a nice ending to a great week.

A few things:

- The dating on the Three Sentence Ficathon goes out tomorrow and I've decided to not do anything about that. It seems people are mostly done playing. You can still find it in my links if the urge to write some three sentence fics strikes you.

- I wrote my first Triple H. story last night. Here There Be Rules is a story about the three main teachers and their rules. I imagine these scenes would take place in the middle of episode one. (Here There Be Rules is actually the name of the first episode, now that I think about it.)

- I have finished writing another one! Yeah, I'm just on fire this weekend. This one is about the back story of Paige Dawson. I'll have to edit it a few times, because it's a little long, and I'm not sure if all of it is all that good.

- I have gathered everything I have ever written on my delicious page. I have written 38 stories. I am impressed with myself.

So what's the rule with flashbacks? Can you have a flashback in a flashback or is that just too confusing?

Meme time!

caramelsilver: (Narnia: Peter and Lucy)
Meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] lizzie_marie_23 and [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. (If you absolutely can't write, maybe find a creative alternative?)

I'll write Narnia (any genderbend except Peter, cause Peter just needs to be a boy to me.), Glee (Puck/Rachel), Harry Potter (Draco/Ginny) Charmed (Chris and Wyatt) and Anastasia. Or anything else you might think I'd write.

I have gotten to a stage where I honestly don't care if people review my fics. Isn't that amazing? As long as a few of my friends who I know will enjoy it reviews, I don't give a shit about anyone else. My four latest fics haven't gotten that many reviews, and it honestly doesn't bother me. I am so pleased with the result and I had so much fun writing them, and I know that they are original and not like anything else out there, and that's all I need.

I am slightly puzzled at this, because I've always been a review-whore at heart. But this is a very nice feeling. I feel more calm, and I write a fic because I want to write it. And I'm finally writing the fics I want to write and I'm not second guessing anything. It's an amazing feeling. And I'm totally blaming the Three Sentence Fic-A-Thon! That was the most brilliant idea I've ever had.

On the subject of my newest fic; All Manner of Things (Shall Be Well): I got an anonymous review over at ffnet. It was a nice review but she asked a question and I really wish I had a way to answer her.

(I say her because I always default to she in fandom. Rule 30 of the internet rules says: There's no girls on the internet. I'd like there to be a Rule 30b: There are no men in fandom.)

She asked and I quote: It was well written and I enjoyed it! =)
I'm just sort of wondering why Edmund-- or er, Edlyn - was a girl..? haha I
think the story could have worked perfectly well with him staying as a boy.

But not like it really matters, great piece as usual!

Now that's a fair enough question and I really wish she'd left contact information so I could answer her. My answer would have been this:

The reason Edmund wasn't a boy in this was because I wanted to explore what would be different if he was a girl. That's the whole point of genderbend, exploring how a character would be different had he grown up a girl.

Take Edlyn; The fact that she grew up a girl made her closer to Lucy. Edmund fought with Peter, while Edlyn fought mostly with Lucy. Edlyn needed to prove herself to Peter, to prove that she was just as good as any boy. While growing up Edlyn felt a bit ignored being the middle sister. Edlyn is more darker than Edmund, she embraced the shadows and the spy work easier than Edmund. I enjoy exploring the differences.

Also because I LIKE writing genderfucked characters. So there!
caramelsilver: (Lewis: tired)
I am having a brilliant day, even though I'm so very tired. I had norwegian exam today and I ended up writing a eight page long fantasy short-story. First I decided to write a modern fairy-tale (I was going to have the girl save the prince and everything!) but then I realised that it would take much more time than I had (only had five hours), so instead I wrote a fantasy short-story. The assignment was to write a short-story and draw inspiration from norse literature and norse mythology. I ended up writing a hero-story which is very norse, but I'm afraid a lot of it is more english, than norse. Hopefully my teacher will be dazzled by the story and not care.

When I came home, I was very tired, but very proud of myself. I lied on the couch and just watched episode 1.3 of Lewis which I just simply adore. (see icon!) It's murder mystery, with compelling characters and a huge dash of dry english humour. Just my cup of tea!

Then after a few hours on the couch I managed to drag myself to check my inbox and what do I find? Lots and lots of people participating in the Three Sentence Fic-a-thon! I could not be happier. I have tagged it to the top of my page, so it's easy to find. It'll keep on going until it dies.

Tomorrow I have english exams, which I'm really looking forward too. I'm going to kick ass.
