This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist, I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

Have fun!

If you have any questions ask them to the first comment.

Edit December 10th: Thanks to the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine we now have a delicious account. So head on over there to find some unfilled prompts: three_sentence_ficathon's delicious bookmarks.

A small note from [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine who's organizing the delicious archive: "So I'm not familiar with all the fandoms here; sometimes when people post a ficlet they abbreviate a fandom and sometimes they don't (like BSG versus Battlestar Galactica, but I know that one) so I might have it listed twice in the delicious tags. If someone notices something messed up they can comment below." -- So do that, and when requesting something new, please use the fandom's whole name.

Undoubtedly not what you had in mind. Erm, I hope you aren't too disappointed.

The boy grunts with exertion, and Susan can tell he's near the end of his endurance. She's not far behind; white noise is beginning to fill her mind, and she welcomes it. She closes her eyes and sees about the sun shining on the white stone of Cair Paravel (in this moment, she can almost imagine she's there still).

Glee, Puck/Rachel, his truck

on 2010-01-13 10:55 pm (UTC)
Posted by [personal profile] pleonasm
His truck is a safe place for both of them-- Puck considers it to be "his truck, his rules," and Rachel thinks of it as their place to be themselves, which in her case, seems to involve a lot of talking.

Puck listens with one ear until he hears an excuse to kiss her, and then he does so, leaning across the gearshaft and letting it press into his skin, because he takes his time to kiss her properly, his hands skimming across her shoulder to her neck, his lips certain.

She's breathless for a moment when the kiss breaks, something that Puck notes with pride; then she smiles and says shakily, "We're never going to get to that party if you don't start your vehicle, Puck, driving is necessary," and he just laughs a little as he turns the key and the truck rumbles to life; they sit in comfortable silence as he pulls into traffic and they go.

Spock goes absolutely nuts one day, throwing things at Christine and yelling profanities, and generally being a big baby. It would be funny, if it weren't so scary, so Jim decides he needs to step in before something really bad happens. He puts a hand on the Vulcan's trembling shoulder and in a soft voice implores him, "I must urge you to cease this violent activity, as it can be of no use to anyone," and is surprised when it actually works.

Narnia, Edmund, learning to fight

on 2010-01-10 05:01 am (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] grim-lupine.livejournal.com
It's a grueling process, learning to fight like a king should, and most nights he goes to bed with his muscles aching; but the pain is a good one, and his head is remarkably clear--he's learning for Narnia, after all. It's the least he can do for a land that has taken a traitor and an angry foolish boy and turned him into a King wiser than his years; he learns the shock of a blade clashing against the one clenched in his hands, and he learns the jarring feel of blows thudding against his shield; he learns how to parry and thrust and block, and he learns the fastest, most efficient way to make a kill.

He's learning for Narnia, but he knows when these skills will come in most handy: in the midst of battle, when he's looking after his brother from afar and there will come the time when the only thing standing between Peter and certain death is Edmund; Edmund intends to be more than ready for that day--he's learning how to fight for Narnia, and he's learning for Peter, and maybe the two are one and the same.

Doctor Who, The Doctor, saying good bye

on 2010-01-11 12:02 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] lizzie-marie-23.livejournal.com
Some words are quite simply not in his vocabulary - 'impossible' is one, 'afraid' is another - because he's the Doctor and there is no higher authority; 'goodbye', though, is a special case.

He used to say goodbye when it was time to part ways, because that was simply what you did, but then he got to thinking about how if they died and you weren't there, the last words you would have shared would be something banal and unfeeling like 'goodbye', so he started getting creative and doing anything that would keep those words from passing through his lips.

Another phrase he never said anymore: "I love you"

When Dean was four years old he heard John Denver sing "Leavin' on a Jet Plane" through the tinny motel room radio. Even at such a young age his life has been full of loss and responsibility with little time for fun. So ever after he thinks of two things when he sees planes- he sees everyone who's ever left and ever will, and he sees a glimpse of freedom as easy to obtain as the air he breathes but one infinitely harder to partake in.

Crayons make him feel a little ill somedays, memories of his desperate failed attempts at communication rising to choke him.

Those days he takes out the soldier figurines and lines them up, one by one. They can't protect him, but they hold the memory of Dean and Sam and the safety they had provided.

Spock has always been a logical tactician, planning ahead and weighing the chance of success against the chance of failure, so he often bests her at chess.

Nyota has loved words since she was a little girl - the way a collection of sounds can take on meaning - and when someone speaks she can see the words spelled out in the air in front of her, so no one is better at Scrabble than her.

When she and he pair up for tag-team Monopoly, his planning smarts and her street smarts combine beautifully and no one else stands a chance.

Neither of them use their own name; like the Tetragrammaton, it is too long, too complicated and far too dangerous. The Master also takes a new name out of respect for all the angels who have fallen from Grace. The Doctor is the highest light of his eyes, but no longer gives him permission to "test" their humble servants; he does it anyway, though, because it's so much fun and he just can't resist.

(oh, you. making me write rose/scorpius. i'm using the h/d icon you made me in protest. :P)

She slips out of bed in the morning, showers and dresses, presses a kiss soft against the corner of Scorpius's mouth and smiles when he mumbles muzzily, "Whre're you goin'?"; "I have work, darling," she whispers, unwilling to break the gentle lazy spell of their bedroom this early in the morning.

"You're going to want to wear a scarf," he says into his pillow, and closes his eyes and turns over, asleep before he breathes out again; Rose frowns in confusion, then looks in the mirror for the first time since she woke up--there's a livid red mark on the side of her neck exactly the shape of Scorpius's mouth, and Rose flushes as she's flooded with the memory of Scorpius's lips pressing wetly against her skin.

She presses two fingers against the mark, and bites her lower lip; fifteen minutes later, she leaves the house sans scarf and with a smile on her face that doesn't leave for the rest of the day.

"What did I do? What did I do?" Oliver asks frantically, holding a squalling Victoire out in front of him like she's about to explode; Percy rolls his eyes and takes the baby from him, cradling her expertly and flicking his wand to bring the bottle of formula closer. "She's only hungry," Percy tells him, biting back a smile at Oliver's nervousness; Oliver scowls, and stomps off to sulk, grumbling something about "don't know why we agreed to babysit the devil child on our day off."

Percy lets his smile out then, and tells Victoire conspiratorially, "He says he doesn't like babies, but he's actually scared of them, I think; not to worry, though, the two of us can convince him to change his mind, can't we?"

Officially, Pike reprimands Jim for the prank he pulled that caused a power outage in the astrophysics lab for three hours that morning. Unofficially he can't help but feel awe and just a bit envious as he remembers a similar joke that took him and three of his friends to pull off, back when they were cadets. It's not exactly what Pike had in mind when he recruited him to Starfleet, but still, he can't help the laugh that escapes as soon as Jim is gone from his office.

He stared with disbelief as the young man leaned forward seductively, saying "Let's pretend we've never met before and I'm a tall, dark and handsome stranger who's met you in a spooky alley and that I just saved you from a bunch of street thugs."

"And that makes me the dumb blonde girl in high heels; I'm insulted, Pavel, but I'll take you to my quarters - I mean, my high-rise apartment - tonight anyway."

"Marvin, we need you!" Trillian says, only pausing a second before rolling her eyes and continuing, "No lip!"

"I don't have any lips," he informs her primly, before rising heavily and walking slowly toward her, glancing back momentarily at the disappointing sun-- unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.

He watches her reactions carefully, and she's surprised, yes, but she isn't fazed by the fact that he's just offered her Champagne and asked her to waltz on an invisible surface hovering above bombed-out London. She's clearly not of this time, but she seems to know perfectly well where and when she is... and even so, she's wearing the flag of the beseiged nation below them emblazoned across her chest - pretty brazen, definitely intriguing, not like any Time Agent he's encountered before.

Then all hell breaks loose, and half her stories turn out to be fabricated, and she apparently shows more poise under pressure than even he does; not only that, but she's got the strange and brilliant man she travels with wrapped around her little finger and doesn't even seem to realize; and he's loved a lot of people in his life, but as he watches her twirl around the console room in an exuberant Lindy Hop, damned if he hasn't already grown to love her, too.
